This delegation will leave on a unique caravan journey towards Slovenia, with stops in Tàrrega, Marseille and Ljubljana. The arrival in Maribor will be on the 22nd September, when the companies will perform their plays.
The trip as well as the entire process will be documented: by a weekly column at the newspaper Público and filming by a team from Macau in broadcasting quality, with broadcasts on a Macanese live television programme, twice a week. Afterwards, the pieces will be edited to a documentary format.
This trip is part of the SPERA MUNDI, or the hope of the world, a project that aims to respond to the challenge of representing the universal potential of Portugal in an Europe fragmented and already devoid of utopia. It raised from the proposal of Goro Osojnik, a Slovenian cultural director and producer, for a project of representation between the two European Capitals of Culture.
The starting point would be representing Guimarães, the cradle of nationality, and a work of Paulo Borges " Uma Visão Armilar do Mundo - A Vocação Universal de Portugal em Luís de Camões, Padre António Vieira, Teixeira de Pascoaes, Fernando Pessoa e Agostinho da Silva (An Armillary Vision of the World - The Universal Vocation of Portugal in Luís de Camões, Padre António Vieira, Teixeira de Pascoaes, Fernando Pessoa and Agostinho da Silva) to meet the challenge of representing the universal potential of Portugal in a fragmented Europe. It is a speculative line of thought about Portugal.
Under the project SPERA MUNDI, Guimarães will also host a company from Brazil, who will present the show "Gigantes pela Própria Natureza" (Giants by Nature).
